GOALKEEPERS
EDWIN VAN DER SAR (Manchester United, 29/10/70)
Veteran Manchester United stopper is Holland's most capped player and their captain. Is set to retire from international football after Euro 2008, but continues to perform admirably for both club and country - despite fast approaching his 38th birthday.
MAARTEN STEKELENBURG (Ajax, 22/09/82)
The Ajax keeper made four appearances during the qualifiers and is the natural successor to Van der Sar.
HENK TIMMER (Feyenoord, 03/12/71)
Despite plenty of experience, the veteran former AZ Alkmaar keeper did not feature for the national team until 2005, and is unlikely to usurp his younger rival as Van der Sar's long-term replacement.
DEFENDERS
KHALID BOULAHROUZ (Sevilla, 28/12/81)
Although his time at Chelsea did not go to plan, the centre-half remains an important member of the Dutch squad. Will be looking for a better ending than at the World Cup, when he was sent off in the second-round defeat to Portugal.
WILFRED BOUMA (Aston Villa, 15/06/78)
The hard-tackling Villa defender can play either on the left or in the middle. A useful member of the squad, he made eight appearances in the qualifying campaign and can expect to feature again this summer.
TIM DE CLER (Feyenoord, 08/11/1978)
Had been a mainstay in the Dutch side through the 2006 World Cup, but the left-back made just two appearances during the European qualifying campaign and could be on the fringes again this summer.
JOHN HEITINGA (Ajax, 15/11/83)
The Dutch Player of the Year is set for a big-money move to Atletico Madrid following another superb campaign for Eredivisie runners-up Ajax. The 24-year-old centre-back or right-back could be one of the stars of Euro 2008.
KEW JALIENS (AZ Alkmaar, 15/09/78)
Versatile defender who can play either in the centre or on the right. A consistent performer for AZ which has seen him become a regular in the Dutch squad.
JORIS MATHIJSEN (Hamburg, 05/04/80)
The Hamburg centre-half was a regular in the Dutch squad during qualifying, missing just one of their 12 games and is integral to their plans this summer.
ANDRE OOIJER (Blackburn, 11/07/74)
Versatile defender who can also operate in midfield. Not the best of seasons with Rovers, but continued to perform regularly for Holland in the qualifiers.
GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST (Feyenoord, 05/02/75)
Vastly-experienced player, who had spells at Rangers, Arsenal and Barcelona. Remains consistent with the national team, missing just two games en route to Euro 2008.
MIDFIELDERS
IBRAHIM AFELLAY (PSV Eindhoven, 02/04/86)
Could also have played for Morocco, but the youngster opted for a place in Marco van Basten's emerging squad. Made just one appearance in qualifiers and the tournament will be a great experience.
NIGEL DE JONG (Hamburg, 30/11/84)
Right winger, who can also switch to defence. A knee injury saw him miss the 2006 World Cup, but this summer will add to the experiences of the promising 23-year-old Ajax product.
HEDWIGES MADURO (Valencia, 13/02/85)
One of Holland's brightest prospects and member of 2007 European Under-21 Championship winning squad. Already with a dozen full international caps, the product of the Ajax school, Maduro earned himself a move to Spanish side Valencia earlier this year.
ARJEN ROBBEN (Real Madrid, 23/01/84)
Former Chelsea winger has been plagued by a string of injuries, but regained full fitness at the start of the year to be a regular for Real Madrid. Still only 24 and always a danger when at full speed down the flank.
CLARENCE SEEDORF (AC Milan, 01/04/76)
Veteran midfielder - the only player to win the Champions League with three different clubs - has been there and done it all. Recalled to the fold by Van Basten after being overlooked for the World Cup and experienced head will be useful asset.
WESLEY SNEIJDER (Real Madrid, 09/06/84)
Scored twice in qualifying campaign and is expected to play another important role in the finals. Full of energy and set for a bright future with the Oranje.
RAFAEL VAN DER VAART (Hamburg, 11/02/83)
Yet another to learn his trade in Amsterdam before a move to the Bundesliga in 2005, and helped the Germans qualify for the Champions League. Goalscoring midfielder who is something of a free-kick specialist and keen for a chance to impress on the big stage after injury hampered his World Cup chances.
FORWARDS
RYAN BABEL (Liverpool, 19/12/86)
Scored in the Champions League semi-final, but was not enough to see the Reds through against Chelsea. Plenty of pace and with an eye for goal, another promising talent to come through the Ajax ranks.
DIRK KUYT (Liverpool, 22/07/80)
Often deployed wide as well as down the middle. Dangerous in the box, and had a decent season with Liverpool, but only managed one goal for Holland on the road to Euro 2008.
RUUD VAN NISTELROOY (Real Madrid, 01/07/76)
Holland's leading scorer was brought back into the fold by Van Basten following his self-imposed international retirement - and netted a crucial stoppage-time strike in Albania. However, an operation on his ankle means the former Manchester United frontman faces a race against time to be fit for the start of the Championships.
ROBIN VAN PERSIE (Arsenal, 06/08/83)
Despite a campaign plagued by injury problems, the Arsenal forward still managed four goals in seven qualifying appearances. Given more freedom in Holland's new system and is always a threat from set-pieces.
KLAAS-JAN HUNTELAAR (Ajax, 12/08/83)
Big things are expected from the young Ajax forward, who was part of the successful 2006 European Under-21 squad and netted twice against the Republic of Ireland on his senior debut. Again the leading marksman in the Eredivisie, with now more than 100 goals overall.
