The 20-year-old agreed to join Manchester United in January but was loaned back to Palace for the remainder of the 2012-13 season, going on to help them clinch a place in the Premier League via the play-offs.

However, Holloway has stated that he does not wish to deprive Zaha of the opportunity to make an impact at Old Trafford by seeking another temporary deal next term.

"I have heard it mooted that we will try to persuade United to allow us to take Wilfried on loan so he can get acclimatised to the Premier League," he wrote in his column for The Daily Mirror.

"I think that is unfair on a player who has been brilliant for us and goes to Old Trafford with the best wishes of everyone connected to Palace.

"He is now ready for the challenge of becoming a United player and I won’t be making a call unless I am encouraged to do so by David Moyes."

The former Blackpool manager also acknowledged that tough decisions must be made at Palace both in terms of who remains at the club and who is brought in to bolster the squad.
And, while the London club may not have the financial capability their top-flight rivals, Holloway believes shrewd purchases and team spirit can help them avoid relegation.
"We’re going to need all that character — and a bit of extra quality — if we are going to give ourselves a chance next season," he continued.
"I’m not being defeatist. Just realistic. We can take encouragement that over the past couple of seasons both Swansea and West Ham have proved that coming up through the play-offs doesn’t have to be a death sentence."
