SOCCEROO Brett Holman has confirmed he wants to remain with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, adding he's heard nothing from Scottish giants Rangers despite speculation of a switch to Glasgow.
Holman, who scored two goals at the 2010 World Cup, has only recently returned to pre-season training at AZ after going on holiday following the South Africa tournament.
Reports earlier this week in the Scottish press linked Holman with a switch to Glasgow and Rangers assistant coach Ally McCoist admitted he was an admirer of the Australian, but the Socceroo denied contact had been made.
"I heard from others that there are rumours about Glasgow Rangers, but I know nothing," Holman told the AZ website.
"I've been on vacation for two weeks and no one has called me about it.
"That's the way it is during the transfer period, but there's nothing in it to me.
"I simply want to remain at AZ."
McCoist, in Australia for Rangers pre-season, told reporters this week the same story.
"I won't lie to you, he's a player who excites me," he said. "But there's been no contact at all between the clubs with a view to getting him over."
Holman acknowledged the speculation was a compliment but also a result of a good World Cup for him despite Australia's disappointing performance.
"Personally it was a really ideal World Cup," he said.
"I was initially pleased that I got selected for the World Cup, then I hoped to play a few minutes.
"I was also lucky that Tim Cahill, the first-choice player in my position, got a red card. Then I played in the last two games and scored."
Holman added about Australia's performances: "We proved against powerful countries like Serbia and Ghana that we really can play football well.
"We had a good group, everyone wanted to work together and the atmosphere in camp was great."
