Giovanni van Bronckhorst's 39th-minute goal cancelled out Brett Holman's 17th-minute opener but Jonas Olsson and Kevin Bobson both scored late goals to snatch a vital victory for NEC in their fight against relegation.

The Rotterdammers have taken seven points from their last five games and have slipped to fourth in the standings, 11 points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.

NEC move up to 12th place, with a four-point cushion over the drop zone.

Feyenoord boss Bert van Marwijk urged his players to take more responsibility ahead of the game so he will not have been encouraged by their showing in the opening exchanges.

Jonathan De Guzman's shot, tipped over the bar by keeper Gabor Babos, was the sole chance before NEC capitalised on some sloppy defending to take the lead. Jermain Lens' cross from the right found Holman unmarked in the box and the striker had time to set himself before shooting past Henk Timmer.

De Guzman had a free-kick tipped over but a minute later Van Bronckhorst pounced on Olsson's mis-timed clearance and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

NEC were unlucky not to be ahead at half-time, Lens' shot from just inside the box having smashed back off the crossbar in the 44th minute.

Holman and Lens both came close in the second half and De Guzman missed the best of Feyenoord's chances when he shot weakly at Babos.

The game looked to heading for a draw until Olsson headed in Peter Wisgerhof's cross in the 79th minute and Bobson compounded the hosts' misery when he coolly finished a one-on-one with Timmer.
