The 2010 World Cup star, who is currently with 2009 Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar, has been plying his trade in the Netherlands for the past eight years.

And Holman, 26, told AAP he's seriously entertaining the prospect of leaving the Eredivisie behind.

"It's on my mind now, more than it's ever been I think," Holman said.

"You get to a stage where you think, I've been (in the Netherlands) for eight years I think it should be sooner than later to make a move."

Holman, who has played with AZ, NEC Nijmegen, Excelsior and Feyenoord in the Netherlands, was linked with Scottish champions Rangers in the off-season.

Since his breakthrough performances at the 2010 World Cup he has found form and confidence which could earn him a move.

"I feel like I'm getting better as well," he said. "I'm learning and I'm showing the things that I'm learning as well."
