Brisbane Roar marquee Brett Holman has been ruled out for the rest of the year after picking up a knee injury against Western Sydney Wanderers, the club has confirmed today.
The former Socceroo - who joined Roar this season - has now undergone surgery for the meniscus tear.
He is unlikely to be back in action before the middle of January.
A club statement added: "Brisbane Roar FC would like to advise that attacker Brett Holman has been ruled out of football for up to six weeks.
"Holman has had minor surgery on his knee to repair a small tear in his meniscus after feeling some discomfort following the game against Western Sydney Wanderers last Friday night.
"It was decided that having surgery immediately to fix the issue was the best course of action so that he will be fully fit for the second half of the Hyundai A-League season and Roar’s AFC Asian Champions League campaign in early February."
