AUSSIES ABROAD: Socceroo Brett Holman scored his second goal of the season in fine style as AZ Alkmaar eased past Malmo FF 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Australia international scored AZ's fourth goal of the contest, after they raced to a three-goal advantage by half-time.
Then Holman scored on 49 minutes, going on a fine run into the left side of the penalty area before calmly slotting a shot into the bottom corner for 4-0.
Elsewhere in the Europa League, Mark Schwarzer saw an FC Twente header from Luuk de Jong hit the post and trickle across the line off his back in Fulham's 1-1 draw with the Dutch side.
Meanwhile in UAE's Etisalat Cup, Lucas Neill was part of the Al Jazira side which ruined Diego Maradona's competitive coaching debut with Al Wasl.
Al Jazira won 4-3, with Neill providing an assist for Ricardo Oliveira's 35th-minute goal.
