Speaking at the club’s annual Victory in Business Luncheon prior to the A-League season start, the Japanese superstar said he expected every opponent to want to be motivated to beat them.

“Everyone wants to win against us,” Honda said.

“Of course I haven’t played in this league yet.

“But I know Australians teams, like the national team, I’ve played against them many times, and they’re physically very strong.

Victory coach Kevin Muscat has recruited several key players this off-season, including Honda.

Sweden international Ola Toivonen, German defender Georg Niedermeier and Spaniard Raul Baena have also joined meaning it’ll be a very different Victory outfit this season, with Rhys Williams, Besart Berisha and Leroy George among those to exit.

“We’ll work out a way which will best suit us,” Muscat said.

“I want it to be exciting and attacking, we want to take it to the opposition.

“We’ve been working tirelessly in our preparations with the number of players, it’ll take time.

“We’ll be ready next week and keep on progressing as the season goes on.”
