FRINGE Socceroos defender Shane Lowry is reportedly wanted by at least half a dozen Championship clubs with his club Aston Villa set to sanction a loan move.
According to skysports.com the 22-year-old Perth-born defender has had a host of Championship clubs make moves to land him on loan.
Among the reported clubs interested in Lowry are Ipswich Town, Cardiff City and Middlesbrough.
Lowry, who remains uncapped at senior Socceroos level despite a handful of call-ups, doesn't appear to be in the Villa first-team frame.
The youngster was an unused substitute in Villa's midweek 2-0 Carling Cup win over Hereford when manager Alex McLeish fielded a weakened line-up.
Lowry has previously spent time on loan at Plymouth Argyle, Leeds United and Sheffield United.
The defender has managed only three appearances for Villa, none of which came last season.
