SOCCEROO match-winner Scott Chipperfield continued his scoring hot streak as Basel moved eight points clear at the top of the Super League following a 2-0 victory over Lucerne.
The hosts were ahead after 16 minutes thanks to Benjamin Huggel's strike with substitute Chipperfield sealing the win six minutes from time.
Second-placed FC Zurich could close the gap on the leaders when they face Vaduz on Sunday.
In Saturday's other matches, Aarau moved level on 16 points with Zurich after a goalless draw at Grasshoppers despite losing Mario Mutsch to a red card in the 79th minute.
Neuchatel Xamax and FC Sion played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Ideye Brown and Tariq Chihab (two) were the scorers for Xamax while Mobulu Mfuti, Alvaro Saborio and Olivier Monterrubio replied for the visitors.
