QPR boss Mark Hughes was happy to see his side register their first point of the new season after a 1-1 draw at Norwich on Saturday.
Simeon Jackson headed the home side ahead after just 11 minutes, but Bobby Zamora was on hand to put the rebound from Djibril Cisse's poor penalty into the back of the net eight minutes later.
Hughes, whose side were just one point clear of the relegation zone last season, said it was good to open their account for 2012/13 after their 5-0 mauling at the hands of Swansea last weekend.
"It was important from our point of view," Hughes told Sky Sports. "We had a poor display on the opening day of the season which we were disappointed with, so it was important to take something out of this game.
"I'm pleased enough with the draw. It was a game of very few chances but I thought we defended well.
"We were always a threat, but in terms of what we needed to take out of this, it was a positive performance to get off the mark and get points on the board.
"It was important to start our season, and that's what we talked about. We were stuck in the stalls last weekend so it was important that we came out and got something out of the game."
Like QPR, Norwich were also thrashed 5-0 on the opening weekend – in their case by Fulham – and manager Chris Hughton said his players had responded well to that defeat.
"We asked for a reaction and we certainly got that today," Hughton said.
"I thought we were considerably the better team, had the better chances and a very soft penalty has seen us not get the result that we wanted to get and deserved to get.
"On the balance of play I think we were the better team but when you have clear chances like we had, we need to be more clinical in front of goal.
"This was a good opportunity today and one we've missed out on."
