Hull have completed the double signings of Seyi Olofinjana from Stoke and USA striker Jozy Altidore.
Midfielder Olofinjana has joined on a four-year contract for a £3million fee with Altidore arriving on a season-long loan from Villarreal, subject to a work permit.
The pair are Hull's first signings of the summer after failing in pursuit of a number of other targets.
Manager Phil Brown said: "I'm over the moon at the fact we have at long last managed to get one or two players into the camp.
"It has been a long hard slog and it has been a frustrating time for a number of clubs.
"But we are pleased to announce Seyi Olofinjana and Jozy Altidore - part and parcel of a long process that has been ongoing for a number of weeks.
"We are delighted to have them on board and both players boast international pedigree.
"One area we needed to address was goals from midfield and I'm hoping Seyi can help out there.
"Jozy is unproven at this level but has great potential and we hope can fill the void of goals from the front line."
Olofinjana, 29, joined Stoke from Wolves a year ago but fell down the pecking order after starting the club's first 13 games in the Barclays Premier League.
He had considered a move to Monaco but opted to remain in the Premier League.
Altidore, 19, is highly regarded in the US and shone in the recent Confederations Cup.
His deal includes an option to buy next summer and a hearing over his application for a work permit is due to be heard on Monday.

Signing a striker has been one of Brown's top priorities this summer but moves for Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Bobby Zamora all proved fruitless.
Altidore, who joined Villarreal a year ago after catching the eye in Major League Soccer with New York Red Bulls, is known for his physicality and direct approach.
Altidore said: "I'm very excited at the prospect. Hull is a good club, up and coming, and to have the opportunity of playing in the Premier League is a great thing.
"It is going to take a little while to get used to but hopefully it is going to be a success."
Nigeria international Olofinjana believes joining Hull provides him with an excellent opportunity to establish himself as a Premier League player.
Olofinjana said: "Nothing beats the Premier League. There are players in France who want to come to the Premier League so why leave it if you have the opportunity?
"It's wonderful. A lot was said about me going to Monaco but I am very glad and think I have got an opportunity in the Premier League to fulfil my potential."
Brown is now hoping to add more new faces to his squad before the season begins for Hull with a trip to Chelsea on August 15.
One player in could be Senegal striker Henri Camara, who is currently on trial with the Tigers after being released by Wigan at the end of last season.
Brown said: "We are still in the market for players. You're never satisfied, it is a never-ending jigsaw.
"Henri is on trial. There is a pre-agreed deal that if he is successful we will go ahead with the contract.
"He is probably with the club until Monday or Tuesday next week."
