The Tigers boss has been told the club need to trim around £9million from their annual wage bill to help tackle their financial problems.

Brown has said he will assess offers for any of his players on their merits but out-of-favour pair Folan and Cousin look set to be among the first to leave, possibly on loan.

Cousin, currently with Gabon ahead of the African Nations Cup, has been linked with a temporary switch to QPR, as has Folan, who has been in the cold since returning from a spell at Middlesbrough last month.

Brown said: "There is interest for Daniel Cousin and Caleb Folan.

"Daniel Cousin is on African Nations duty and it is very difficult for him to come back and sign papers.

"Until that happens then there won't be a deal on the table, regardless of what anyone else says.

"Caleb has expressed a desire to leave the football club and we have agreed to it."

Brown pointed out, however, that Republic of Ireland international Folan has not handed in an official transfer request.

Two other players, Kevin Kilbane and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, have also been linked with loan moves this week.

Kilbane is reported to be interesting Wolves while Vennegoor of Hesselink is said to be a target for Middlesbrough.

Brown accepts the financial constraints placed on him by chairman Adam Pearson and admits other departures are inevitable.

"I can't do anything else but accept it," Brown said. "He is the man in charge and if that is the deal I will try and get on with it.

"We have got some good players here. Every manager wants a big squad that can compete at this level and cope with two or three games in a week.

"You need a big squad but there has been interest in a number of players at our football and we are considering each interest on its merits."

Brown, however, would like to bring in new faces if he gets the opportunity.

"Depending on what we can move out then possibly a striker and one or two other positions as well," he said, when asked which areas he would like to strengthen.

Brown claimed he had no interest in Freddy Adu despite suggestions from the United States international on Twitter the club had made him an offer before he signed for Greek side Aris.

"It was press speculation and I don't know where it came from," said Brown. "I was very surprised."

Brown could be given a lift before the end of January by talismanic midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who is on track in his recovery from the knee injury suffered last month.

Brown said: "When Jimmy first got injured I was hopeful he would play some part in a January game.

"If that's true it would be fantastic. At this moment in time we are probably looking at the back end of January."

Brown's immediate concern is Saturday's daunting Barclays Premier League clash against leaders Chelsea.

Hull have struggled to find somewhere to train this week due to the severe weather.

Their own snowbound training ground has been out of action and plans to use the KC Stadium had to be scrapped today because of fresh snow.

The indoor pitch at the neighbouring Gemtec Arena was used instead.

"It's chaotic," Brown said. "We'd like to boast in the next 18 months a new training ground complex but until that day arrives we haven't got indoor facilities.

"It has been very difficult but the lads have come together and are enjoying it because it is different.

"It is not the same old trudge or mundane training sessions every day."

There are fears the game itself could become another casualty of the winter if the weather takes another turn for the worse.

The KC Stadium pitch will be playable due to undersoil heating but the surrounding areas could become a problem.

Brown added: "There is an army of people working around the clock trying to clear the car park and terraces.

"It is important to try to get this game on on Saturday."

Brown has also made official his interest in Manchester City forward Felipe Caicedo.

The Ecuador international could be available if his current loan at Sporting Lisbon is cut short.

Brown said: "We have expressed an interest in Felipe Caicedo to Manchester City and are awaiting a response."
