Irvine has been left out of Burton Albion's matchday XI for the fixture today against Sheffield Wednesday as a transfer edges closer.

Burton confirmed that the midfielder is in talks with Hull.

Irvine has been in demand for months after starring for the Brewers last season. The Australian made a sensational debut in the Championship after arriving from Scottish side Ross County, helping Burton avoid the drop.

It is understood Hull have prepared a £2.5 million offer for Irvine.

The Tigers were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Irvine, who debuted for Australia in 2013, first moved to Europe with Celtic a decade ago. The 24-year old has won 13 caps for the Socceroos.
