Young gun Atilla Ofli struck two late goals to help City to the qualifying final win and within a victory of a grand final appearance.

The Cannons headed into the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to fine finishes from Ricky Diaco and Frankie Lagana.

But Hume didn't give in as, first, golden boot winner Richard Cardozo pulled one back five minutes into the second half.

City were level four minutes later as an own goal made it 2-2.

Oakleigh restored their advantage on the hour mark when Diaco converted a spot-kick.

Just as they looked to be headed for a berth in the major semi-final, the Cannons let the game slip as Hume forward Ofli struck two late blows.

First he tapped in from a corner before adding another in a one-on-one with Peter Zois in a dramatic finish.

Hume will meet Green Gully on Saturday for a place in the grand final, while Oakleigh have a second chance in their clash against South Melbourne, who edged Heidelberg 1-0 in their elimination final.

In a contest lacking flow, South had goalkeeper Zaim Zeneli to thank for his late penalty save.

Striker Jesse Krncevic had put them ahead, also from the spot, on 66 minutes.

But Zeneli brought down Heidelberg winger Osagie Ederaro in the area five minutes from the end, moments after South midfielder Sebastian Petrovic had picked up a second yellow card.

Hamlet Armenian stepped up to the spot, but Zeneli denied him and then saved his rebound as the Bergers' season came to a disappointing end.
