THEY SAID IT: "I lost three kilos of sweat on the sideline. Player welfare has to be paramount for them to play at their maximum and you're not going to get good quality football" - Western Sydney coach Marko Rudan lamented a 3pm summertime kick-off on Sunday. It was 32C when the Wanderers kicked off in their 1-1 draw at home against Melbourne City.

MAN OF THE WEEK: Hard to look past Jason Cummings, who keeps scoring for the Central Coast Mariners when it matters. The Socceroos forward is enjoying a flourishing partnership with Marco Tulio and is showing no signs of second-season syndrome with seven goals and three assists to his name this campaign.

TALKING POINT: Where was VAR in the Central Coast Mariners' 2-1 win over Macarthur? Both coaches were left frustrated that they each had two claims for late penalties turned away by referee Alireza Faghani. The official opted against checking the appeals, leaving Mariners boss Nick Montgomery and Bulls manager Dwight Yorke frustrated.

STAT ATTACK: Queenslanders! Wellington had an atrocious record (W5, D9, L17) in the Sunshine State prior to Saturday's 1-0 win over the Brisbane Roar. But courtesy of Oskar Zawada's goal they have now enjoyed consecutive wins in Queensland for the first time in their history.

BEAT THAT: Melbourne Victory needed something to celebrate after a turbulent few weeks and Nick D'Agostino's second-half rocket in their gritty 1-1 draw away to Adelaide would have undoubtedly released a pressure valve. The forward got on the end of a flowing second-half move at the edge of the box, rifling the ball past a helpless Joe Gauci with his first touch.

UNDER PRESSURE: Sydney FC's defensive woes continue to rear their head after they threw away a first-half 2-0 lead away to Perth Glory. Centre back Jack Rodwell missed the draw with Perth which will fuel further questions as to why the club signed a player with a long history of injuries. Alex Wilkinson is due back in the coming weeks but the collapse will have done nothing to help lift the pressure engulfing Sky Blues boss Steve Corica.

UP NEXT: Macarthur head to Adelaide on Friday. Sydney FC are off to Hobart to face Western United on Saturday as Brisbane host Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory make an unenviable trip to Perth. Central Coast will aim to tackle Wellington on Sunday as Newcastle welcome Western Sydney to the Hunter.
