WELLINGTON Phoenix forward Paul Ifill has landed two accolades in the FourFourTwo 2010 A-League awards after a stellar first season in Australia.
The Englishman - who played an integral part as the Phoenix finished fourth and reached the Preliminary Final - landed himself the much coveted Player of the Season award alongside Import of the Season.
After claiming the domestic double, it was no surprise that Sydney FC won Team of the Season. And while his team took out the top collective award, Czech Vitezslav Lavicka won Coach of the Season after his highly impressive first A-League term.
It turned out to be a trio of awards for the sky blues as Clint Bolton claimed Goalkeeper of the Season after a great final season between the sticks for Sydney, with the club conceding just 23 goals during the regular A-League season.
In other awards, Adelaide United's livewire starlet Mathew Leckie won Young Player of the Season, Carlos Hernandez took out Goal of the Season for his long-distance screamer against Gold Coast United in Round Eight, Robbie Kruse won Impact Player of the Season, Joel Griffiths got Overseas Player of the Season and Mark Schwarzer landed Socceroo of the Season.
As for the FourFourTwo A-League Team of the Season, Bolton claimed gloves duties behind a back three consisting of Simon Colosimo, Kevin Muscat and Andrew Durante. Holding the midfield is Jason Culina and Matt Thompson, releasing Paul Ifill on the right wing, Tommy Oar on the left, and an impressive front three of Carlos Hernandez in behind Shane Smeltz and Sergio van Dijk.
We'll have interviews with selected winners on next week's FourFourTwo Insider podcast, but hear the discussions and arguments behind who won our awards on this week's podcast:
