In the curtain raiser to the Sydney FC versus Wellington Phoenix A-League clash, around 1000 excited fans were treated to an open and entertaining game with some eye-catching goals.

For Dunbar, playing in their sky blue and white kit, their fifth goal was bagged by livewire striker Mike Hemmingway, who by day "works" (ha!) for FourFourTwo magazine and online.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com that the day was a great success in bringing the A-League and the grassroots together.

"I think it's brilliant," he said. "We brought along I think 350 fans most off whom have never been to an A-League game before. So that's great that Sydney FC did it.

"And playing out there was absolutely awesome."

However, when asked to recall his second half strike, Hemmingway appeared to describe a completely different goal to what the fans and media saw.

He insisted: "It was an amazing run, picked up the ball on the half-way line, beat three people, cut inside and a little ricochet and into the net."
