The six time Socceroo spoke exclusively to FourFourTwo following his exciting performance but remained coy on Socceroos speculation, maintaining focus on the task at hand for the Wanderers.

"We look to the next game," he said. "We'll try to take three points next week and move closer to cementing a finals spot."

"My head is only on the next game... Nowhere else."

Ikonomidis took Man of the Match plaudits from his first full game in front of his home fans and feels his body is working well to get through 90 minutes.

"It feels great, it was a great team performance tonight," he proclaimed. "The result showed our dominance and hard work that we built off last week's win."

"I feel happy and my body feels great at the moment," he said. "The extra work I've put in after training has paid off, I feel like I'm in really good shape."

Despite the talk of his competitors at Italian Serie A giants Lazio, Ikonomidis has fit right in at the Wanderers, especially in his home city. The winger believes the tempo and style of the Wanderers has helped him to settle in under Gombau.

"There is something special about playing in your home city," he said. "It's made it a lot easier to settle in here."

"The style of player fits quite well with how I was playing in Europe," he said. "It's one of the many reasons I came... it is a similar style in terms of the pace of attack and transition."

"My entry into the club has been very smooth."
