Socceroos great Tim Cahill is expected to announce his move to Melbourne City within hours.
The 36-year-old former star of the English Premier League, Major League Soccer and Chinese Super League is understood to have inked a lucrative deal with the ambitious A-League outfit.
The Herald Sun has published photos of Cahill visiting sister club New York City, where he reportedly completed a medical.
He took selfies with NYC players Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, Frank Lampard and David Villa and was also photographed at the club’s training centre.
According to the Herald Sun, Cahill is understood to have signed a multi-year deal similar to Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero who inked a $3.5m-a-year contract with Sydney FC.
Australia’s all-time greatest goal scorer has kept fans guessing as to his next move since being released by Hangzhou Greentown in July 2016 - although Melbourne City was always front and centre.
The club has lost some key attackers in Aaron Mooy and Harry Novillo and will relish a chance to unleash the prolific Cahill alongside 2015/16 Golden Boot winner Bruno Fornaroli.
The green and gold veteran has scored 47 goals in 91 Socceroos games and is keen to push on towards the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
