AUSTRALIA'S upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifying opponents Jordan are set to be heavily depleted for Tuesday's vital clash with star duo Abdallah Deeb and Hassan Abdel-Fattah among those to miss.
The Socceroos have made it clear they are aiming for their first win in the final round of qualifying, having claimed two points from their opening two games, while Jordan have managed only one point so far.
Australia's hopes of securing that victory have been boosted with the news of Jordan's long list of absentees due to injuries and suspensions.
Adnan Hamad's side will definitely be without striker Deeb, who has scored four goals in qualifying already, after being sent off in the 6-0 loss to Japan, along with midfielder Khalil Baniateyah who is suspended after picking up a second booking in qualifying in the same match.
Hamad also have several injury concerns including 73-cap veteran midfielder Abdel-Fattah, who famously scored for Jordan at the 2011 Asian Cup in the 1-1 draw with Japan, as he struggles to fully recover from a knock.
Jordan have already ruled out 62-cap midfielder Baha' Abdelrahman (Achilles) and Romania-based striker Thaer Al Bawab, who both started in their last qualifier against Japan, due to injuries.
"They have two points and they will definitely be looking to get a win in order to boost their position in the group so we expect a tough match,” Hamad said at the pre-game press conference.
“I hope that we can put in a good performance against them but the match will not be easy given the situation that we are going through."
