Nowra-born Federici, 25, twisted his right knee diving for a ball and despite trying to play on had to be replaced on 84 minutes.

Reading boss Brian McDermott will wait on the results of scans performed on Sunday to find out of the severity of the problem, but Federici was seen on crutches and in a knee brace after the game.

It is suspected Federici suffered medial ligament damage to his right knee.

"He has a knee problem," McDermott told BBC. "We don't know exactly what it is yet.

"We'll have a look at him in training."

Federici, who has been at ever-present for the Royals this campaign, looks certain to miss Reading's clash with Millwall on Tuesday.

"I don't think that I will be playing on Tuesday, if I had my way I would but I don't think that I'll be able to," Federici told the Bracknell Forest Standard.

"I've never been injured before so I don't really know much about it, but we'll look at it in training and see."
