The Australian midfielder rolled his ankle just over ten minutes into the second-half and had to be replaced on 61 minutes, before the Toffees grabbed two late goals to defeat Burnley.

And after the game Everton boss David Moyes couldn't offer too much on the situation, telling BBC Sport, "Tim Cahill just went over on his ankle. Hopefully he'll be back for the next game, but who knows?"

Meanwhile Lucas Neill put in a full shift for Everton although he had a mixed afternoon and was fortunate to get away with a second-half penalty claim against him for handball.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Mark Schwarzer produced a solid display as Chelsea came from behind to defeat Fulham 2-1 in the west London derby.

Schwarzer had made a brilliant save from Didier Drogba's curling effort in the second-half, before being beaten by the Ivorian on 73 minutes with a powerful header.

Two minutes later the Aussie saved well from Daniel Sturridge's shot, but the rebound deflected off Chris Smalling and in for an own goal as Chelsea claimed the points.

At Ewood Park, Vince Grella and Brett Emerton continue to be unavailable for Blackburn due to injuries, as Rovers drew 2-2 with Sunderland.

In the Championship, Rhys Williams played a full game, while Brad Jones missed out again as Middlesbrough lost 2-1 to Barnsley.

The official line from Middlesbrough is that Jones is injured, despite his absence coinciding with strong protests from fans who want the Australian stopper dropped.

Elsewhere in the English second tier, Adam Federici was beaten four times as Reading crashed to a woeful 4-1 defeat at Plymouth Argyle. Federici was hardly to blame, though, and was one of the Royals' better players.

Nick Carle was an unused substitute for the fifth game running as Crystal Palace drew 0-0 with Swansea City, while Daniel Ireland continues to be the back-up keeper for Coventry as they lost 2-0 at Nottingham Forest.

In League One, Patrick Kisnorbo and Neil Kilkenny both played full games as Leeds United continued their fine form with a come-from-behind 4-2 win at Stockport.

Kisnorbo actually provided the assist for Jermaine Beckford's equaliser at 2-2 with a looping cross.

Elsewhere in the English third tier, Gareth Edds put in a full shift as Tranmere were held to a 0-0 draw by Carlisle United.

In League Two, Dean Bouzanis made a few good saves as Accrington Stanley lost 4-2 to Bury, while Shane Cansdell-Sherriff put in a full shift as Shrewsbury won 3-1 at Bradford.
