Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has reminded his side of the importance of winning Saturday's game against Juventus.
The Nerazzurri, who lead the league standings by one point from AC Milan, take on Juve in the 'Derby of Italy' at the San Siro.
The encounter between Inter and Juve is one of the most intense games of the Serie A calendar between two Italian teams not from the same city.
"This game against Juve is an old confrontation, a more traditional encounter linked to scudetti battles in the past," said Moratti.
"For tradition and for a thousand other reasons it would be very important for us to win it."
Juve are third in the standings, three points behind Inter, and will go into the match in a buoyant mood having won five games in a row, including Thursday's emphatic 4-1 triumph against Genoa.
Moratti believes that although it is early days, it could be a three-legged race for the Scudetto between defending champions Inter, Juve and AC Milan.
"We are all very close together in the standings," said Moratti. "One slip and the other teams can already catch you.
"It is certainly an interesting tournament."
