Strike duo Adriano and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in either half to send Inter Milan into the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia with a 2-1 victory over Serie A rivals Roma.
Brazil star Adriano, who has been linked with a January move away from the San Siro, scored first after just 10 minutes to calm Inter's nerves.
There was no further scoring in the first period but Rodrigo Taddei equalised after an hour's play.
Parity lasted just a minute, though, with Sweden forward Ibrahimovic claiming the winner after 62 minutes.
In the night's other last-eight fixture, Sampdoria needed penalties to squeeze past Udinese - for whom Antonio Di Natale missed an 89th-minute spot-kick for the match.
The sides went in goalless after 45 minutes before Giampaolo Pazzini netted 10 minutes into the second half.
Di Natale levelled with his first penalty chance of the night but when presented with a similar opportunity in the 89th minute, the Italian international failed to convert.
Sampdoria then dominated the shootout, running out 4-1 winners.
