Invincibile, who has never won any silverware during his eight years in Scotland, had a second-minute header brilliantly saved over the bar by outstretched Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

And Motherwell then went on a three-goal blitz which settled the clash by half-time and dashed any dreams Brisbane-born Invincibile had of a place in the final at Glasgow's Hampden Park.

“Who knows what would have happened had my header gone in,” Invincibile told The Daily Record after the game.

“Goals change games and we were pinning them back. But then we lost a silly goal and it went downhill.

“We knew they would come at us from the start because they tend to score early.

“It was frustrating, especially in the first half, but we did well early on.  To then go and concede three before the break was a killer.”

Motherwell will now face Celtic in the final on May 21.
