Kuwait came from behind to salvage a point in a 1-1 Asian Cup qualifying draw against Iran on Tuesday.
While Kuwait won their first match in Group B in Thailand, Iran were also full of confidence after thumping Lebanon 5-0.
And the visitors took the lead in Kuwait City thanks to a strike from midfielder Masoud Shojaei.
Shojaei – who plays his club football for Osasuna in Spain – netted on the stroke of half-time but it was not enough to give his side all three points.
Fahad Awadh Shaheen struck the equaliser for Kuwait from the penalty spot on 76 minutes.
Both sides are on four points following the draw, with Iran topping the group on goal difference.
Kuwait sit second, one point ahead of Lebanon, who thrashed Thailand 5-2 on Friday.
