There was a long list of Aussies in action overnight in the Championship, headlined by Irvine who fired in a stunning left-foot volley from outside the box, which boss Nigel Clough labeled “brilliant”.

The strike secured Burton a 1-1 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday as they seek to move away from the relegation zone, sitting three points above the bottom three.

The goal was Irvine’s ninth for the season and first since late December.

"Luke Murphy said in the dressing room before the game that he had a feeling it would be today,” Irvine told the club website.

"Sometimes that's just the way it works out, someone has a gut feeling and as the manager said before it's unusual for me to not be in the box attacking set-plays."

Elsewhere, Bailey Wright fired home after a goalmouth scramble from a corner as battling Bristol City claimed a 1-1 draw with Norwich.

The goal was Wright’s first for City but they remain in the drop zone in 22nd.

Elsewhere, Aaron Mooy and Mile Jedinak faced off as promotion hopefuls Huddersfield edged Aston Villa 1-0.

Mooy and Jedinak both played full games for their respective sides.

Mooy’s low cutback from a corner led to the chance for Tommy Smith’s strike for the winner on 69 minutes.

Massimo Luongo and Callum Elder both put in full shifts as they met with QPR triumphing 2-1 over Barnsley.
