Action Jackson sounds like he's got his work cut out for him under Bert van Marwijk's strict training regime.
Jackson Irvine hooked up with Socceroos camp after guiding Hull City to a narrow survival in the English Championship, but the slog is far from over for the Aussie midfielder.
With their first extended period to drill into van Marwijk's philosophy now underway, Irvine said it's all hands on deck.
“It’s unusual to be part of the Socceroos set-up and be training as hard as we are,” Irvine told socceroos.com.au
“Because when we come in normally it’s about getting a couple of days together and building into a game.
"But with an extended period like this we can really start to train a bit harder and push ourselves a bit further, and I am sure it is only going to get tougher over the coming weeks.”
Josh Brillante seconds that motion, with the midfielder keen to earn his stripes ahead of a final three-man cull on June 4, which will decide whether he attends his maiden World Cup.
“It’s only been a couple of days so far but the sessions have been quite intense and quite sharp which has been good from day one,” Brillante said.
“Obviously, it’s warmer weather, so we are still getting used to the conditions, but it’s been great.”
