Tom Rogic could be Australia's most important weapon in Russia. So with ravaging injuries and the World Cup creeping closer, a riveting display for Celtic is just what the doctor ordered.

Tommy played 72 minutes in his third game back for the Hoops, still recovering from the latest in a run of devastating injuries for the 25-year-old. Injuries that have apparently had Brendan Rodgers planning for a future without the enigmatic midfielder.

A supposedly less-than-impressive new deal, in addition to Celtic's 18-month loan signing of Charly Musonda - direct competition for Rogic's creative position - means Rogic is weighing up his options.

For his part, Rodgers insists he wants to keep the Australian.

"That's the first I've heard of it," Rodgers said, “Where we can, we always want to keep our best players for as long as we possibly can and Tom is certainly that."

Although Rogic wasn't on the scoresheet in Celtic's 2-0 win against Aberdeen - a strong performance against one of Scotland's better clubs - it was the Aussie's performance that caught the eyes of many.

It was only due to the exciting displays of Aberdeen keeper and Newcastle United loanee Freddie Woodman - tipped to be a future England goalkeeper - that the midfielder didn't have a brace.

Despite having two fantastic chances saved, Rogic was back to his creative best and dominated Aberdeen's midfield for large periods of the match. Which begs the question, after rejecting a new contract offer at Celtic, is Rogic vying for a move away?

Leeds United were frontrunners to sign Rogic after the midfielder's sensational performances last season, which makes them a potential destination if Celtic want to cash in on the midfielder.

Rogic has 15 months remaining on his contract, meaning he could bide his time at Celtic and secure a big contract as an attractive free agent. But, should Celtic see an end for Rogic, they're unlikely to pass-up close to $10 million on the open market.
