Young Socceroos mentor Ufuk Talay has weighed into the search for the future Socceroos coach by suggesting that former Turkey boss Fatih Terim would be a great candidate.
Former Socceroos Mark Bresciano, Stan Lazaridis and Mark Schwarzer are among a panel of experts who will advise Football Federation Australia (FFA) on the appointment of a new Head Coach after Ange Postecoglou resigned.
Terim, 64 has had a long and successful coaching career that included stints in Turkey with Galatasaray and Italy's Serie A as well as Head Coach of the Turkish national team.
Terim has had three stints as national team coach of Turkey with his most significant achievement coming at the 2008 European Championships when he guided them to the semi-finals.
That success was in Terim’s second stint. His third and most recent term for Turkey was between 2013 and 2017 when he took them to the 2016 Euros but failed to get them out of the group stage.
Under Terim, Turkey also missed out on qualifying for the 2018 World Cup after they finished fourth in their group behind Iceland, Croatia and Ukraine.
Speaking on Turkish radio station Radyospor's Sports Score program, Talay said the 64-year-old would be a decent option as coach of the Socceroos.
"It would be great if Fatih Terim came to be the Australia national team’s head coach,” he said.
"I haven’t heard anything about him taking on the job as Australia’s World Cup coach, but it is possible that Football Federation Australia would talk with him.
"In world football, everyone knows each other now, they know the success of Fatih Terim, it would good for Australia to make use of Fatih Terim’s experience.”

Terim most successful tenure as a club coach came with Galatasaray where he won six league titles and also the UEFA Cup when he earnt the nickname "The Emperor".
Talay, 41 spent several years playing in the Turkish top flight including with Galatasaray and coincidently was there when Terim was Head Coach where both won the 1996-97 Turkish league title.
And the former Australian youth international said their previous relationship would be of benefit if he became Socceroos coach.
"When I was at Galatasaray we had a football-teacher relationship at that time,” Talay said.
“If he came to the Australian national team, we will have a teacher-teacher relationship and we would benefit from his experience"
