Isaias was unable to represent Australia in this year’s World Cup as he failed to meet the eligibility criteria before the tournament’s commencement.

Isaias joined Adelaide in July 2013, has featured in over 100 games for the Reds and starred in their 2016 Grand Final triumph.

Former Asian Confederation head of legal James Kitching said earlier this year he would need to have lived continuously in Australia for five years after turning 18.

Kitching added Isaias would be eligible for the Asian Cup as his five years would’ve arrived in July. His Australian citizenship would also free up a visa spot in Adelaide’s squad.

However, the Reds captain said he had no idea what was happening despite passing his citizenship test months ago.

“I’ve been waiting for almost five months already for the confirmation letter,” Isaias told FTBL.

 “I’m hoping to get it as soon as possible. I cannot do anything else, I can only wait and have patience. I know it’s been long, I don’t know what else to do or what to ask to somebody.

“I’m trying to ask a lot of government workers or people at our club if they can help to find a solution, but no one can help me or give me an answer, so I need to wait and that’s it.”

Isaias added he was keen to be part of Graham Arnold’s future plans.

“I would love to play for Australia, it would be a fantastic achievement for me and I will be really proud to represent the national team,” he said.

“I know it’s difficult because they have plenty of players in my position, many quality players, but of course it would be nice to represent the Socceroos and give my best to the national team because I’m very grateful to this country.”

Isaias’ team sits fourth on the A-League table after losing their second game of the season to Melbourne Victory on the weekend.

The 31-year-old said he found many positives from their 2-0 loss on Saturday and will now be looking to down Melbourne City on Sunday night.

“We have a very good squad, even better than last season,” he said. “We’re a very competitive team and we’ll be fighting until the end.

“We have a lot of positive things from the Victory game, I think Carlo Armiento made a good debut. We had our chances, but we didn’t score. I think it’s important we created chances and one day the ball will go in and this is important.”
