Central Coast Mariners have released former Wollongong Wolves strikerJosh McDonald after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
McDonald joined the Mariners from the Wolves at the start of this season and is tipped to be heading back to the NPL with Sydney United after making just two appearances in Yellow and Navy.
His release comes just a few days after new coach Alen Stajcic took charge at the wooden spoon club.
“I would just like to say thank you to the club for giving me the opportunity,” Macdonald said. “It’s a shame it’s come to an end like this.
“To the fans - keep supporting the boys because each and every day they are putting in their all. You have all been great since I arrived at the club and I’m sure you’ll continue to get behind them for the remainder of the season.
“I just want to wish the boys all the best for the rest of the season, it’s been a pleasure."
A club statement added: "The Central Coast Mariners wish Macdonald all the best with his future endeavours and thank him for his service to the club."
