Aaron Mooy and Mat Ryan are set to face each other this weekend with both their clubs perilously close to relegation. There may only be one survivor.
Only four points separate the sides due to do battle at Brighton's Amex Stadium this weekend. Brighton have a phenomenal record at home this season for a side near the bottom, especially compared to their away record.
Chris Hughton's men have six wins, four draws and four losses so far in Brighton, compared to just two wins and nine losses away. Hughton mentioned at the beginning of the season - as so many managers do - the importance of making the Amex a fortress.
The difference is, the former Newcastle United manager has delivered. Brighton are a little more comfortable than their Terrier neighbours,
An away loss for Huddersfield, meanwhile, would be their ninth loss in 12 games. Many pundits have them clear favourites for relegation, despite them currently sitting three points above the drop zone in 16th.
The Terriers' last three matches are against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal. It's by far the toughest test of any Premier League side over those matches and with Everton and Watford making up the remainder of their last five encounters, Mooy's Premier League future is hanging by a thread.
It is worth noting, however, that despite the fact that losing against a desparate Huddersfield side could drop Brighton as far as 16th, Ryan is shining for a hardy Seagulls side that are only six points away from the magic 40 points total.
In truth, given recent seasons, a win against Huddersfield may just be enough. West Brom and Stoke City both look gone already.
It may the case that the Socceroos only have one genuine star in the Premier League next season - bar a momentous push from Bailey Wright in the Championship - but at least there's no doubting Ryan truly deserves to be there.
