EXCLUSIVE: John Aloisi doesn't see the A-League's two big hitters relinquishing their spots at the summit and predicts a thrilling fight to the finish.
With only three rounds played, both Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC have seven points apiece (along with Adelaide) and confidence is high in both camps.
Aloisi believes a strong Sydney FC and strong Melbourne Victory is good for the competition as a whole.
While both teams have eached claimed grand final success since the A-League began, it hasn't been a case of the pair dominating the competition at the expense of their rivals.
Aloisi believes John Kosmina and Ernie Merrick have now assembled squads which could change that.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "I believe ourselves and Melbourne have got the best squads in the league.
"With the start that both teams have had it's going to be like that end of the year, with the two of us up top.
"I think that's good for the game in the country and great for both sets of fans."
Aloisi also hopes a good fight between the two rivals will swell interest even further and see the turnstiles clicking over.
He said: "Everyone remembers when Sydney went to Melbourne a couple of years ago and there were 50,000 people there.
"A good, strong rivalry between the teams this year - and hopefully we'll see that again."
