Northern Demons have secured the playing services of former Socceroo and Adelaide City great Milan Ivanovic.
47 year old Ivanovic, who coached White City Woodville in the second half of 2006 BEST Super League, has signed for the Port Pirie based club for the remainder of the BEST Premier League season.
Northern Demons’ Chairman Justin Turci was upbeat about the signing for the club, “ Milan will be a huge boost to our club we hope. He will bring a vast amount of experience to the team who have been hit hard with long term injuries this year and are struggling for confidence.”
Ivanovic, who played for Red Star Belgrade, OFK Belgrade and Radnicki Nis in the former Yugoslavia, represented the Australian National Team 71 times and played 300 matches for Adelaide City in the National Soccer League.
Turci has urged regional Football supporters to attend Demons home matches, “He will be arguably the most decorated player to play in our region and definitely for our club and that can only be seen as beneficial, not only for our team but for country soccer in general as we are confident he will also bring extra people to the games.”
“Milan is a legend in soccer circles and for a country town to attract such a name to Port Pirie will only be of benefit to us,” said Turci.
Northern Demons tackle rivals Port Pirie City on Saturday 19th May in Round 2 of the BEST Pavers Cup at Savoy Park at 2:30pm.
