Jair made his A-League debut in round one against Wellington, before being replaced after 57 minutes.

He lasted 76 minutes against Adelaide United in round two.

The Brazilian, who only signed for the Jets in September, says he is nearing peak condition.

"I am ready but I’m like at 80%," he said.

"I’m not at 100% yet. I need more games to give a better combination with my teammates. With a couple of games I will be at 100%. I am feeling better and better, step by step. The last game I felt better, my health and condition.

"Hopefully tomorrow I can be better and I can improve and help my team win the game.”

Jair has yet to get on the scoresheet for his new club but believes chances will come.

"Some games it depends on the oppoisiton, and our head coach sometimes makes changes," the striker said.

"I start pre-season as a striker and now I’m playing as a left winger. I think the most important thing is to give my best, running a lot. If I get some opportunities, of course, I am here to score."

Newcastle take on Melbourne Victory tomorrow at McDonald Jones Stadium in the grand-final rematch.

The 30-year-old is confident going into the clash.

"We should get the three points," Jair said.

"Our team is strong. It’s a new season and a new challenge, we hope to be good in front our of fans and get the win. I know it’s a big game, it’s a like a derby. We have to be ready."
