Melbourne City captain Michael Jakobsen is a major doubt for the club's elimination final against Brisbane Roar on Friday night due to a thigh injury.
The 32-year-old defender missed City's 2-1 loss ot Wellington Phoenix last round and has had a modified training regime this week.
Jakobsen has been a key member for City this term, stating all 26 league games before missing their Round 27 fixture where they suffered a shock defeat.
City coach Warren Joyce admitted the Dane remains under an injury cloud.
"There's still a doubt with Jakobsen, that's the main one," Joyce said.
"He's been managed this week in training. He's trained a lot during the week but in a controlled environment.
"We'll look at that and assess everything tomorrow."
Joyce also clarified that Jakobsen would need to prove his fitness otherwise he wouldn't be involved at all, not even as a substitute.
"If he doesn't start, he wouldn't be a sub," he said.
"With the type of injury that it is, it's not one where you could come on and go off."
