The 31-year-old is going into his second season with Melbourne City, but the Dane likes to keep private when it comes to social media.

Jakobsen says his family is enjoying Melbourne every day since moving here and feels the culture is very similar to Europe after spending time in Denmark, Holland, Spain and Norway.

Despite teammates like Tim Cahill and Bruno Fornaroli interacting with the fans online and promoting themselves, Jakobsen said it was not for him.

“I’ve never put myself into all the stuff like Instagram, Twitter and all that,” Jakobsen told FourFourTwo at City’s kit unveiling.

“It’s a lot of work. I have Facebook but I never use it and that’s more to keep up with what’s going on with family. I see it sometimes with my wife, she shows me stuff on there and I’m not really keen on doing all that to be honest.

“It’s never been something where I’ve said, ‘oh, I need to have this!’. Maybe one day I’ll know more.

“It’s just a headache I think, to think about it all the time - what I like, what to do, what to show and what not to show.

“Sometimes I can be very inappropriate so I might lose it on there and I don’t want that.”

Jakobsen also said many people asked him why he did does not use social media and his response would simply be “I’m not that into it”.

“I don’t feel the need to put everything on a hotspot and show everybody what I’m doing,” he said.

“Sometimes I’ll use Snapchat, if we’re going somewhere, beautiful pictures but to document everything about family, I don’t need that.

“My wife does a bit of it and my focus is just more being a good dad when I’m at home, being a good husband.”

City take on Queensland based Peninsula Power in the FFA Cup Round of 32 as they begin their quest in defending their 2016 trophy.

The Dane said it was his first proper pre-season after missing the start of the last season due to his late arrival.

Jakobsen’s starting debut for City had him scoring a bicycle kick in the first two minutes against Western Sydney Wanderers in the FFA Cup quarter-final.

The centre back said he could not wait for their first competitive game this season after six weeks of training.

City have so far signed Scott Jamieson, Eugene Galekovic, Iacopo La Rocca and Stefan Mauk for his second stint.

“We won the cup last year and if we can do that again that’ll be amazing for the club,” Jakobsen said.

“For us players it has to be our ambition to do at least as good as last year.

“Our new signings bring in a new energy, new cycle with everything. They’re good boys and settling very well. I think in general we have a really good group of players that are very open minded, it’s easy to adapt here into the group.”
