Victory haven't defeated the Sky Blues since Australia Day 2016 but it was the break up of play by the visiting team that earned the Socceroo's ire.

After lamenting his side's lapse of concentration Troisi took aim at referee Jarred Gillett.

"I don’t think the referee had a great game as well," he told Fox Sports.

"Obviously it is difficult, especially when I get fouled a lot. I’m not falling over the ball, I’m not falling down and I’m not getting anything.

"Little decisions like that is disappointing because they’re professional fouls and they’re getting away with it. There’s been a lot this season so it’s very frustrating."

Victory conceded 23 fouls to Sydney's 12.

Kevin Muscat's men took the lead in the 58th minute before Sydney piled on three more goals in the final half hour, including a penalty which saw Jason Geria sent off in the 77th minute.

The reigning champions amassed five yellow cards to Victory's three and Adrian Mierzejewski was perhaps lucky not to get a second for an elbow to Rhys Williams in an aerial contest.

But Troisi conceded it was "extremely disappointing" to concede two minutes after going ahead through a Besart Berisha penalty.

"We were on the front foot, obviously scored, had some opportunities and to let a goal like that… If you make mistakes or give them space like that they’re going to punish you," he said.

"The result isn’t a reflection of the game, so yeah disappointing tonight."

"It was exactly the same last season. Did extremely well, like I said, then you have a lapse and you get punished."

Sydney now move nine point clear at the top of the table while Victory remain in fourth, 17 points adrift of the league leaders.
