German 2.Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt have confirmed Jamie Maclaren will leave on loan, with Scottish Premier League club Hibernian favourites to take the Socceroo.
The race for Maclaren's signature has intensified, with the Scottish Premier League looking the most attractive destination for the Socceroos' striker, who has only played 153 minutes since moving to Germany.
The Edinburgh Evening News originally reported that Hearts were in talks to sign Maclaren on loan, however Hibs have emerged as leading candidates for the Australian following a last-minute pitch from former-Celtic boss Neil Lennon's side.
The striker reneged on a pre-season trip to Spain with his German teammates to secure a loan move in the lead up to the 2018 World Cup, with the Socceroos' striking role wide open.
Maclaren represented Scotland at u/19 level before changing his allegiance to Australia. The forward scored 40 goals in 53 appearances for Brisbane Roar, before leaving for Europe.
