Jamieson has experienced football at four other A-League clubs and it was announced yesterday that he'd signed for City after a short stint with Swedish Allsvenskan side IFK Goteborg.

He left with 18-months on his contract and felt City was the “best fit” for a chance to win, enjoy his football and be around his family after revealing his brother is currently living in Melbourne.

Jamieson established a relationship with City Football Director Michael Petrillo during their time at Adelaide United and also admitted the professionalism was one of the key factors in joining.

He observed that City’s facilities had set a benchmark for other clubs in the A-League to follow.

“I’m not saying all clubs need to have these facilities but It’s a case now where we’re 12 years into it and some teams are training on public parks,” Jamieson said.

“I think that’s where we’re missing opportunities where these standards set need to equally raise around the league.

“It’s definitely gotten better. The product is better, I think the league in itself, having these two derbies, the Sydney and Melbourne derbies has done a lot for the game.

“There’s also a lot of missed opportunities that the game and FFA missed out on. There’s no hiding that.
