Jamieson, 21, was unveiled in Sydney this morning with the attacking left-side defender/midfielder ready to repay the faith shown in him by his hometown club.

"The success of the club last year was a massive factor, but also the coaching staff here. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it [the coaching staff] from other players in the Socceroo camp," he said.

"To learn under the current regime here would be fantastic for me and hopefully I can learn a lot and hopefully also bring a bit to the team.

"Also coming home, I'm a Sydney boy so the opportunity to come back was a good one," added Jamieson, a former Bolton Wanderers player who's been capped once for the Socceroos.

Jamieson added that his main goal was to break into the starting 11. Thoughts of the Socceroos were far from his head right now.

"The most important thing for me is the first day of training and getting to know everyone."

The former A-League Rising Star winner in 2009 is expected to fight for a spot down the left of Lavicka's side along with existing full back Sung Byung Hwan.

Lavicka described Jamieson as having good potential for the future. "I know him as an opponent from last season where he did a very good performance for Adelaide.

"He's not only defensive. He's a versatile player on the left side. We will discuss about it. We have a long pre-season and I believe we find the right position for him."
