JAPAN have jumped over Australia to be the number one nation in Asia in FIFA's latest rankings after the Socceroos lost to them in the Asian Cup final at the weekend.
The Blue Samurai jumped 12 places to be 17th in the world after their cup success while Australia moved up five places to be 21st.
South Korea are third in 32nd place overall with Iran fourth in 44th spot. China come in fifth in 75th place, just ahead of sixth-placed Uzbekistan, ranked 77 overall after a huge 31 place jump.
At the other end of the rankings, places are unchanged in the top nine nations in the world, led by Spain, Holland, Germany in the top three, followed by
