SOCCEROO Mile Jedinak isn't getting carried away just yet after Crystal Palace claimed their first win of 2011 in emphatic style, 4-0 over Watford in England's Championship on Saturday.
The result moved the Eagles up to 12th on the Championship table, but Jedinak wasn't making any playoffs predictions.
“We know we've got a lot of tough games to go but if we keep it positive and continue to play the way we’re playing then we are heading in the right direction,” Jedinak told News Shopper.
“If we get there (top six) at the end of the day then fantastic, but if not then it’s a good thing to take into next season.”
Palace are unbeaten in their past four league matches and Jedinak added: “We are enjoying our football at the moment. It has been really good and hopefully we can continue to push for the top six.”
The Eagles had been in good form prior to Saturday's big win, but had only managed three straight draws, so Jedinak was delighted to get the three points against the Hornets.
“I’m very relieved. We’ve had some really good performances of late but haven’t been able to capitalise on some of our chances to finish the game off,” he said.
“We knew at 2-0 we had to keep the foot on the accelerator and we did that well and it paid off.”
As for Jedinak's own form in England's second tier, the Australian said he was happy with it having moved from Turkish club Genclerbirligi prior to the 2011-12 season.
“You are always going to have a little bit of time to adapt, I wouldn't say it's been difficult,” he said. “It’s about getting up to speed with everything and knowing what the competition is about.
“I knew the Championship was going to be tough from day one and it hasn’t disappointed. You have always got to prepare yourself psychically and psychologically for the challenge ahead.
“It doesn’t matter if you are playing top of the table or bottom of the table, it’s going to be a great battle.”
