Australia downed Iraq 2-0 to begin the final phase of 2018 World Cup qualification and Ange Postecoglou boldly stated post game the majority of the squad were yet to reach their peak.

Tomi Juric, Tom Rogic, Aaron Mooy, Massimo Luongo and Mathew Leckie were among the players who were singled out by Postecoglou.

Jedinak placed emphasis on the importance on performing at club level and believed it was important when playing for Australia.

“You have to agree with the boss in saying that, when you come into camp and see what everyone can produce, you want that to happen all the time and you’re so happy when it does happen within this set-up,” Jedinak said.

“Even more so, happy when you see guys doing their bit in their respective leagues and teams on a regular basis, that’s music to your ears as a fellow teammate.

“I wish everybody in this set-up success, not only with the Socceroos. If you have the success away from it then it’s going to translate into success for the Socceroos.”

Australia now travel to Abu Dhabi to continue the final qualifying phase against the UAE on Wednesday morning (1.30am AEST) and temperatures look to soar over 40 degrees.

UAE upset Japan 2-1 away on Thursday night and Jedinak was pleased about the hype being placed on the challenge.

The Socceroos skipper also spoke of the growing depth within the national team ranks, saying he had faith in the versatility of the playing group.

“We all now have expectations of each other to do the job, it’s not just them it’s the guys who sat on the bench or the guys who miss out from the starting XI, we’re all doing it for them as well,” he said.

“(We) know that if we’re unable to do it for whatever reason, then we’ve got capable replacements and that’s the beauty of having the games so close together.

“You know you’ve got two starting XI’s which is great and it should fill the squad, and everyone involved, with confidence knowing that at some part they play a major role in the upcoming games.”

Jedinak faced a strenuous schedule over the past month leaving Premier League side Crystal Palace for Championship club Aston Villa who were relegated from England’s top division last season.

The Socceroos skipper said the ambition was to return to the Premier League, pointing to the fact he had settled in nicely.

“The atmosphere has changed since last season, it’s not very nice when you get relegated, not only for the playing group the football club as a whole,” Jedinak said.

“In saying that they’ve recruited and brought players in, new staff, new manager and new ownership.

“There’s a buzz around the place which is nice to be around, nice to be a part of and hopefully with all that, it can translate onto the field.

“That’s going to be our goal and objective, to get that translated onto the field and hopefully it can take us all the way.”
