Jedinak was this week named in Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou's preliminary 30-man squad for the 2018 World Cup inter-continental play-off against Honduras.

The 33-year-old has only played once for Villa since April, when he re-injured the groin injury which required surgery in the off-season against Middlesbrough in mid-September.

Villa conceded they may have rushed Jedinak back too soon on that occasion and have taken a cautious approach lately.

"Mile has trained for the last week," Bruce said.

"He hasn't played since last May really, so that would be a big call (if he started)."

If Jedinak fails to play against Brum, he would still have two more potential games for Villa ahead of Socceroos duty.

Villa are due to play Preston North End on Wednesday 1 November and Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 4 November.

Postecoglou will be sweating on Jedinak's availability, with fellow holding midfielder Mark Milligan suspended for the first leg.
