Socceroo Jedinak yesterday put pen to paper on a new deal that see’s him remain at the club until 2017.
Palace currently competes in the Premier League following promotion from the Championship last year, but face a tough battle ahead to remain in the top tier.
Tony Pulis’s men yesterday moved off the bottom of the EPL ladder after securing just their third win of their opening 14 games of the season, with a vital 1-0 victory over West Ham
Despite this being his first season in the Premier League, Jedinak is well aware of the challenge facing his side.
“Everyone’s obviously excited (about being in the EPL),” Jedinak said. “The club hasn’t been here for a while.
“But the hardest thing is to stay in there, and we shouldn’t lose sight of that. We are where we are at the minute but it doesn’t take much for that to turn around.
“I’m sure we’ll be pulling in that direction and hopefully that can start sooner rather than later. I’m very confident and very happy with the way it’s all moving forward.
“You’ve got to believe in yourself and believe in your teammates and I think in that sense it did may be take it longer than we wanted to settle down.
“However we all know we can mix and match it with the teams in the premier league as soon as we can come to grips to that then the sooner we can get on with the job and get those crucial points that we need.
“We’ve got to take them a game at a time starting with West Ham on Tuesday. We prepare for that as normal and go out there and give it what we can and hopefully that’s enough.”
Jedinak joined Crystal Palace from Turkish club Genclerbirligi in 2011 and has enjoyed a fruitful time at Selhurst Park to date and is currently the only Australian playing regular Premier League football.
“I came to this club a few years ago not really knowing what to expect,” said Jedinak.
“Being open minded about things, being realistic about what I wanted to try and do and achieve and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to achieve those things, particularly with the promotion and having the sort of run we did last year the season was fantastic.
“On top of that, being in the Premier League, but not just being in the Premier League, we want to stay in there.
“I make that no secret, I’m hungry and determined and I’ll do everything I can to make sure that happens and pull everyone around me hopefully in the right direction.”
