SOCCEROOS striker Josh Kennedy may be earning his living in a country eager to beat Australia in the race to host a World Cup but he says both 'his heart and head' go for Oz over Japan.
Kennedy, is settling into his new Japanese club, Nagoya Grampus and is keeping close tabs on Australia's bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018 or 2022.
While Kennedy will probably be retired by the time the 2018 FIFA World Cup rolls around, it hasn't stopped him supporting Australia's bid.
"Like Australia, Japan are working hard at submitting the best proposal possible," said Kennedy. "But not only does my heart stay Australia, so does my head. We're ready to host it. It would be fantastic for the entire region," he told http://www.australia2018-2022.com.au/
Kennedy is enjoying life in a new country with a new team and believes the move was just what he needed.
"Japan's a good place, but it's a bit different. Like when you go shopping you get a loaf of bread with six pieces instead of 20," he said.
"It's freshened things up and made things exciting again.
"I definitely needed it. I made it public a long time before my move that I'd had enough of Germany, both living and playing there. I came to a point where I felt I wasn't going to get any better there and I needed that change to freshen things up and keep things new.
"There was interest from Europe, but nothing was 100 per cent, no offers were on the table and when I found out that these guys were serious and heard about their ambitions, I didn't think about it too long.
"It's a whole new challenge and a complete change and for the kids to speak a bit of Japanese will be great for them. It wasn't just about the football, but the whole package of having a new life experience.''
