O'Donovan has signed a two-year contract with Newcastle, with Izzo joining Adelaide United on a three-year deal.

“I want to score a lot more goals in the Hyundai A-League,” O’Donovan said.

“Obviously the Jets are transitioning between managers and there are a lot of players out of contract, but if we can get the right type of creative players in the team then I sense that we will be able to push on.” 

“The Jets are a good football Club, a big Club that I can only see growing under the ownership of the LEDMAN Group.”

“Obviously joining from Central Coast will be seen as a little bit controversial, but as a professional footballer this is the next step in my career.

“I will be moving up to Newcastle with my family - it’s a beautiful part of Australia I think it will be a great place for us to live.”

O'Donovan thanked the Mariners where he spent two seasons.

“I can’t thank everyone involved with the Mariners enough, I do not have a bad word to say about the Central Coast Mariners," he said.

"The people here that I’ve been lucky enough to encounter from the club to the supporters have been nothing short of extraordinary, I’ve loved my time here.

"It’s a shame we couldn’t have experienced more success but I wish the club every success moving forward and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

Izzo thanked the Mariners for his past two seasons at the club.

“It’s very tough for me to leave the Mariners,” Izzo said. “This season we’ve seen how good things can get at this club and how good they can be so it was a hard decision.

“I want to say a huge thanks to the Central Coast Mariners who took a big gamble on me, it took time for me to put in a strong season. They were very patient and showed a lot of faith in me."

Speaking on his three-year contract and returning home to Adelaide, Izzo said: “I’m so happy to be coming back to Adelaide because it’s every professional footballer’s dream to play in front of their family and friends regularly.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to do that and when I left I always said that I’d love to come back one day.

“I honestly didn’t think it would be this quick, really only two seasons ago, but I’m glad this opportunity has come.

“Moving away and leaving home was tough, but I think it was probably the best move I’ve made in my young career so far.

“I was very grateful for the Club letting me go back then and I’m extremely grateful they’re taking me back now.”
